Safe and pure hygienic environment in buildings today can no longer be taken for granted because negligence in providing a healthier environment not only collapses the hygienic level but also affects the performance of the people performing in these surroundings.  Over the last two decades, there have been an increasing number of instances where the inhabitants of buildings have complained of a general feeling of being unwell or experiencing acute health issues and discomfort while living in those buildings.

The sick building syndrome has been the subject of research for approximately 10 years. In buildings where many people work in close proximity, such as hospitals, hotels, offices, factories, etc. antimicrobial products can complement cleaning protocols to help alleviate sick building syndrome and reduce the risk of cross-contamination.

Viruses, bacteria, molds, mildew, and pollens are types of biological contaminants found in buildings. These contaminants may breed in stagnant water that has accumulated in ducts in air conditioning systems, or on the wall paints, floors, ceilings, bathroom fittings, ceramic tiles, worktops, and water pipe systems, providing a pathway for harmful microbes to enter into the air and circulating microorganisms or particles become the major cause of skin infections, rashes, allergies, diarrhea, respiratory and other diseases.
